I’m trying to put together a simple record of some crypto holdings and I need the approximate fiat value of several Bitcoin amounts. The problem is that I have different figures for different dates and I don’t want to keep opening an exchange, finding the BTC price, and then doing the multiplication myself. Is there a straightforward online calculator that handles the conversion? I’m mainly looking for something quick that I can use when I have a number like 0.008 BTC or 0.12 BTC and want to know roughly what that represents in dollars.

Not embarrassing at all, I did the same thing for longer than I would like to admit. What changed it for me was starting to use a calculator first instead of going straight into the purchase flow. There is one at https://paybis.com/bitcoin-calculator/ that shows the live rate and what you would get for a given amount in your currency, in both directions. You can put in what you want to spend and see the BTC, or put in the BTC and see what it costs. There is also a profit calculator further down where you can set a past date and see what an investment would be worth now, which is a bit of a rabbit hole if you have ever been curious about missed opportunities. No signup required just to check, which is why I started using it in the first place.
