I’m currently helping a family member search for quality home care, and I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have already gone through this process. There are so many providers available that it’s difficult to know which one will truly meet a loved one’s needs.
When you were looking for home care, what factors influenced your decision the most? Did you focus on caregiver experience, professional qualifications, communication, or recommendations from friends and healthcare providers? Were online reviews helpful, or did you find that personal referrals were more reliable?
I’m also curious about the services that made the biggest difference. Did your loved one benefit most from personal care, companionship, meal preparation, medication reminders, mobility assistance, or help with household tasks? Were there any services you didn’t think you would need but later found extremely valuable?
Another question I have is about communication. How often did the care provider update family members? Was it easy to reach someone if you had concerns or needed to make changes to the care schedule? I believe good communication is just as important as the actual caregiving.
