The more I delve into it, the more I feel like Instagram has deliberately shut it all down. Like, you could at least keep track of activity before, but now you can’t.
So, I have to look at likes, comments, and other indirect data, but that’s all wrong. How are you coping these days—are there any good workarounds, or do you just ignore it?
Yes, Instagram has truly become much more private than it was a few years ago. You could previously easily see activity, new follows, and interactions, but now the platform has virtually eliminated all transparency.
Because of this, many people start looking at likes, comments, or random recommendations, although this doesn’t always provide the true picture.
At some point, I also got tired of trying to guess everything based on indirect signs, so I started using recently-followed.com to track changes in following lists. This at least helps me understand the dynamics of followings and see who an account recently started following, without constantly manually monitoring pages, especially if you need to understand someone’s activity or behavioral changes. It’s just that now I have to look for more convenient methods of analysis, because Instagram itself has hidden almost everything.
