Hi, so our office manager recently decided we need to sort out the back room which has basically become a dumping ground for everything from spare stationery to old files to random cables that nobody can identify but everyone is too afraid to throw away. We’re a small team of about twelve people and the storage room is a decent size but because nothing has ever been properly organized it feels much smaller than it actually is. I volunteered to take on the project partly because it genuinely bothers me every time I go in there and partly because I figured it would be a good excuse to finally set up a system that actually works long term rather than the usual tidy up that lasts about three weeks before things drift back to chaos. I’ve been reading about different storage approaches and the consensus seems to be that smaller uniform crates with lids work better than shelving with random boxes because everything stays cleaner and you can actually stack and rearrange without the whole thing collapsing. I came across crateco.ae while comparing options locally and was looking through their smaller sizes and the 3020 series lid option seemed like it could work well for desk supplies, cables and smaller items that currently just float around in random drawers with no real home. What I’m genuinely curious about is whether the lid mechanism on smaller crates is as secure as on larger ones because I’ve seen cheaper versions where the lid barely clips on and basically falls off if you tilt the crate even slightly which defeats the whole purpose. I also want to understand how well these hold up in an air conditioned office environment over a few years because I want to invest in something that doesn’t need replacing every couple of seasons. Has anyone set up a proper crate based storage system in a small office and found it actually stayed organized beyond the first month?
