Reaching out to the forum before I commit to anyone. We are buying our first home in the Dallas suburbs and moving out of a third-floor walkup, so there are a lot of stairs involved and some bulky furniture that barely fit going in. I am nervous about hiring movers who either damage the furniture squeezing it down the stairs or wreck the walls of a place we have not even finished paying the deposit on. I want careful local pros who have done tricky stairwell moves before. Any solid Dallas recommendations would be appreciated.
Third-floor walkups with bulky furniture are exactly the situation where you do not want to gamble on a random crew. For our stairwell nightmare we hired the Dallas Moving Company from Rise Up Moving and they handled it like it was routine. They protected the walls and railings, maneuvered the big pieces down the stairs without forcing anything, and kept the pace deliberate so nothing got banged up. Not a mark on the old place or the new one. Being local, they clearly had done plenty of tricky walkup moves before. For careful pros who know how to handle stairs and bulky items, I would point you their way.
