I’ve been hunting for a cheap dedicated server to run a couple of projects that outgrew shared hosting. The tricky part is balancing cost with actual reliability. A lot of “cheap” plans look great at first but sneak in bandwidth limits, old CPUs, or poor support.
From my digging, the things to check are:
Hardware age (an old Xeon might struggle if you’re running heavier apps)
Bandwidth policy (unmetered vs. capped with high overage fees)
Support response times (cheap is pointless if downtime drags on for days)
Upgrade flexibility (can you scale RAM or storage without migrating?)I tested a few providers and found HostNoc to be a decent balance. Their prices are low enough for small projects, but they still provide 24/7 support and clear specs. Has anyone here run production apps on a cheap dedicated server long term? Did it hold up, or did you end up upgrading sooner than expected?
