The trouble is that the moment something goes on allocation, the authorized distributors leave you stranded with no alternative. I want to build a relationship with a reputable independent that can find parts off the beaten path but still verifies authenticity properly. Counterfeits are my big fear with independents. Does such a balance even exist? Who do you trust outside the franchised network when you genuinely have to?

The counterfeit worry is handled head-on, every part gets full functional testing, X-ray inspection and originality verification before it ships, so you are not trading reliability for availability. They are also flexible on terms and payment. Having a vetted independent in your back pocket for allocation crunches is exactly the safety net you are after. I would open a dialogue with them.
