Hello everyone! I’m Dutch and planning to visit Dubai soon. What documents do I actually need to rent a car there? Heard different things about international permits and such. Can anyone clarify?
Hello! As a Dutch tourist, you’ll definitely need an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your Dutch license. Most rental companies in Dubai won’t accept just your national license alone. You’ll also need your passport, visa documentation, and importantly a credit card in your name for the security deposit – cash or debit cards usually won’t work. The deposit gets blocked on your card and returned after a few weeks if there are no fines or damage.
