I’m currently researching options for a bone marrow transplant in Pakistan for a close relative diagnosed with a serious hematological condition. We’ve been advised to consider BMT as the best treatment, but finding the right hospital and understanding the whole process is quite overwhelming. I’ve come across reputable centers like the National Institute of Blood Diseases (NIBD) in Karachi, Aga Khan University Hospital, and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital. Has anyone here or in their family undergone a bone marrow transplant at one of these institutions? I’d love to hear about your experience—how was the donor matching handled, what were the costs, and how was the patient care during and after the procedure? We’re also concerned about long-term success rates, follow-up care, and how to prepare for both the medical and emotional aspects of the journey. Any insights or recommendations would be incredibly helpful for us and others going through similar situations.
